Gharghur overcame a stiff challenge by Zurrieq, beating them 4-2 to stay four points clear in the BOV Second Division.
Gharghur took the lead thanks to Nicky Zammit on the 25th minute but Margeith Sicluna equalised two minutes later and six minutes from the end of the first half, Jamie Mifsud made it 2-1 for Zejtun. An own goal eight minutes in the second half restored equilibrium and four minutes later, Muda Fagbeja restored the lead for Gharghur. Martin Deyanov sealed the issue with a fourth goal one minute from time.
Marsa found no difficult in beating Mellieha 6-1 at the Charles Abela Stadium to keep the pace with the leaders.
